There is one thing that was really confusing me. A "tie down." what is that? It looks like some sort of nose band and it has a leather strap that attaches to the bottom of the nose band and goes down to the front cinch. What is this and what is the purpose? How do you put one on.

Also, do you know what a keeper is? How does it keep the horses head straight and where do you attach it?

A Tie-Down is used to keep a horses head from shooting through the clouds. They are used to "lean" into and "balance" when the calf hits the end of the slack. But in reality they are used for keep a horses head lower.

And a keeper keeps the rope from tangling and such….

If your truly interested you should find a experience calf roper to help you with the equipment and such.

The circumstances around the incident are not as black and white as they may sound. In a nutshell I had left work with a cheap copy of a stanley blade in my pocket and headed straight to the pub to meet a friend, forgetting I even had it in my pocket (I had it in my side cargo pocket so it was easier to forget). Later on I was pulled aside by police who were searching the area for someone fitting my description for whatever reason. I wasn’t questioned by them or anything, just locked up for the entire long weekend then sent a letter for my court date. I was found guilty (my solicitor seemed to think I was being made an example of.) And given 80 hours community payback. This was my first and last offence. Does this rule me out of Joining the RAF, or indeed any armed forces? Thanks in advance to any answers icon smile Can i join the RAF if ive been convicted of possesing an offensive weapon?

When joining the armed forces, certain convictions that are ‘spent’ will not be a bar to entry. Convictions have a period of time after you recieve them (or after a prison sentence/community order ends) in which it takes for the forces to consider them no longer a problem. I unfortuantely do not have the paperwork to hand anymore as I am past that stage in my application. For the offence you were convicted for, depending on how long ago you finished the community service, as far as I know after some time it will become ‘spent’ and you will be allowed to joing the RAF with no issues, as long as you tell them about it and don’t lie (they’ll only find out anyway, and if you lie about convictions they’re not very likely to give you a second chance. Althougj I’m sure your conviction will become spent, I’m not sure whether it will take weeks, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years or whatever, you’ll have to ask your recruiter for advice on that one.

Some say handlebars and rear footboard brackets, Some say around the forks or crash bars, I have soft straps for the handlebars if needed, Any advice would be appreciated, Also are there good pictures somewhere on line to actually see an Elctra Glide tied down?

For the front, on each side of the triple tree, just above the forks. Bring them down at least a 45 degree angle and forward. Don’t use the handle bars, there’s too much play from the bushings, which are probably rubber if they’re still stock.

For the back, use part of the frame.

Keep all straps towards the front, even the back straps. Also, it’s best to use a wheel chock on the front tire. This will keep the bike solid with the trailer.

How do you properly tie down your motorcycle?

Wednesday’s with Greg Episode #2 Motorcycle Tie Down.

Kyle: Kyle Bradshaw from Cruiser Customizing, Greg Buck from Tucker Rocky with your Episode #2 of Wednesday with Greg. So what’s the topic of the week Greg.

Greg: We gonna talk this week about how to safely transport your motor vehicle if you have to.

Kyle: So most of us don’t care to tie their motorcycle down with trailer or pick-up truck or anything like that but sometimes it’s necessary.

Greg: Yes, sometimes you need to take your bike somewhere to get some work done on it. It doesn’t run or you’re going on a trip and it necessitate your bike on the trailer. Who know’s

Kyle: So here im gonna focus on couple items the Condor, Power Stand. Those are your most high power and inexpensive version of motorcycle truck. We gonna talk about the canjon dancer and the high roller. So to begin with this tip let’s go ahead and roll into the Condor so we can show people how simple that item really works.

Greg: Alright, Lets do it.

Kyle: The Condors are really simple way to keep your bike upright without being tied down. Take a look at this. Rolling in is just that simple. Then you can step off the motorcycle. This is allowed your motorcycle to be in upright position so can properly used all of your tie-down from restrain.

Greg: Now we have the motorcycle safely into the Condor. Let me explain some of the benefits and features of the high rollers barber strain. This section is adjustable so we have more than just one bike. You can adjust to fit the bike properly. It also has a strap that goes around the bar and then you can pull down front or rear or both front to facilitate tieng the bike down properly. If you happen to have bars and mirrors and you can’t get a or like a in capped on you can simply go around the bar and tie the bike down. High roller also has a bar that goes across the bed of the pick-up. So if you don’t wanna used the wilsock. The bar is design to give you cut outs so that you can locate the front wheel and also keep the bed of the pick-up from bending under multiple uses. There’s a lot of different kind of tie-down. So what I’m featuring today is the bike master. It has a soft hook for connecting it at the top. You don’t need a harness. It’s 1 ½ inches wide so you have a lot of surface area for grip and the nice feature at the bottom it has a carribener for positive retention. It inhibits so they never get twisted. Here where showing the strap facing backward. So if you have another location back here. You can in fact have the front tie down and the back tie down and the wheel would not move. Now, we take this go forward and go into the tie down and you have both of them captured like that.

I think if you used just 4 ratchet straps it would do the job.
