I’m thinking about buying an old fashioned metal canoe, probably 15 to 17 feet long. Can I haul that in the back of my truck by strapping it down and putting a flag on the back of the canoe? Wasn’t sure if that would be legal or not. I assume a little less than half of the canoe would be sticking out the back.
a rack that gets teh canoe on top and not sticking out a few feet behind would be far better.
and racks turn out to be amazing convient.
ever have to move a fridge? if got a rack you can shove it in the corner and tie it up with total ease, if you dont you need to run several lines to secure it from sliding and from tipping.
got a need for lumber or ladders that are over 8′ long, put it on the rack.
but assuming this a long bed, with the tailgate included about 10′ will stick into the boat. and with a red flag and SECURE tie down you can legally and safely transport it in the back.
i would also suggest you look into the "indestructible and unsinkable" plastic canoes.
i had a 16′ coleman as a teen. run it into a jagged rock and you could carve grooves in the plastic hull, but it was as tough to destroy as a rubbermaid trashcan, dent it and it pops right back out.
fill it full of water, and its not floating on the surface, but its not sinking either. its right at the surface still (unless additional weight is pulling it down, such as a battery to run the trolling motor. add extra floatation to support extra weight, tie a lifejacket to the canoe if you got to).
BTW anybody who isnt aware that the typical canoe is about 16′ long aint worth paying any attention to…..

This is a folding basket adapter for two inch trailer hitch mounted cargo carriers. Specifically this will fit cargo carrier model 52018. As you can see we have the parts out here, we’ll install them on a cargo carrier and show you how it goes but first we’ll show you the main points of it. Basically you see this bushing right here, what’s going to happen is it’s going to fit inside the tube of the cargo carrier itself. What happens is when it sits inside here, it eliminates all the slop. This pin here is just for when you have it up or fold it down, it’s just this pin that keeps it in place. It has two positions: one for up and the other for down. We have a cargo carrier here we’ll go ahead and install the adapter bar here, again you want to put your bushing in first. and that stays there as you slide your adapter bar over. Then you install the bolt and the washer on either side.

Voilà qu’on avait prévu de parler de nonchalance pour cette session des Coming Soon. Un rapide coup d’oeil sur une définition du mot nous fait faire machine arrière. Lenteur, mollesse, manque d’enthousiasme, de vivacité. Rien de tout cela ne convient au Coming Soon et à leur musique. Loin de là. Quand on les croise à Dour pour leur première session Cargo ou dans un bar de Paris il y a quelques semaines on retrouve ce coté tranquille, amusée, parfois on pourrait confondre cela avec de la nonchalance, les trouver un peu détachés… Et pourtant, quand les voix se calent, quand les regards se croisent, quand les sourires se dessinent… on devine le plaisir, de jouer, d’être ensemble, de donner… tout cela ne trompe pas. Les Coming Soon aimeraient peut être donner cette impression de nonchalance… mais là les gars pour une fois, c’est raté…

It allows for active surveillance of the tie downs holding cargo in place on trailers. The Load Tension Alert Device includes a portable receiver and a number of tension detectors (transmitters). The Tie Down Straps and cables are slipped through the wireless transmitter, which detects tension changes. When tension loss is detected, an alert message is sent to the receptor which is located in the truck’s cabine within the driver’s view, keeping him/her informed on his tie downs at all times.
